Classifieds Provider PriceLookup.com Hooks Up With Google Base & Launches VIP User Program
Online classifieds provider PriceLookup.com has integrated its listings with Google Base as part of a package of improvements intended to support the strong growth of the site since its public launch in July. PriceLookup.com's innovative classifieds service allows visitors to securely buy and pay for items directly from its listings, which are free for sellers.
Online classifieds provider PriceLookup.com has fully integrated its classifieds listings with Google Base and has introduced a package of improvements aimed at consolidating its growing success in the online classifieds market and better meeting the needs of its growing group of high-volume "VIP" sellers.
Upgrades to the software behind the site mean that PriceLookup.com's listings are now automatically listed in Google Base, bringing a much wider audience to the site and offering a considerable benefit to sellers.
PriceLookup.com is one of the first classified advertising services to use Google Base in this way, and the site's founder Phil Chiu is impressed with the potential Google Base offers for his site, commenting that "traffic and site activity levels have both increased significantly since our Google Base integration went live".
The PriceLookup.com team has also implemented a number of anti-spam features enabling them to rapidly identify and ban fraudulent posters, protecting buyers from dishonest sellers. Fraudulent sellers can be identified by any combination of IP address, location and e-mail address before being banned from the site.
The site's growth has led an increasing number of high-volume sellers to start selling through the site, and a VIP User program has been introduced to provide enhanced facilities to these users. VIP Users are given a fast-track interface which allows an unlimited number of listings to be prepared in advance, before being published with one click.
To complete the package of changes, PriceLookup.com's simple, modern interface has been refreshed and updated to make it easier and more intuitive to use, and has been integrated with the Google Toolbar to enable users to automatically populate forms with their details.

The Next Generation of Classified Ads – pricelookup.com Launches Website to Public
pricelookup.com has launched its new website, offering a new generation of classified adverts that make it possible for buyers to complete a purchase directly from the advert listing. The result of two years’ testing and development, pricelookup.com brings modern web design to a traditional concept, offering a simplicity and transparency not seen before in classified advertising. Free to use, with no registration and an integrated payment and messaging system, pricelookup.com has been designed to feel instantly familiar to new users.
San Francisco-based pricelookup.com has just completed the public launch of its new free classified ads website. Rather than just acting as a passive advert display tool, pricelookup.com enables buyers to discuss items with sellers and then make their purchase through the website’s own interface. Designed from the start to present a familiar and modern interface to users, pricelookup.com is the result of two years’ development and testing and offers a transparency and directness not normally associated with classified advertising. Now in its second month of live operation, pricelookup.com already has over $5 million worth of goods listed and receives over 10,000 visitors per month.
Company founder Phil Chiu has over 10 years experience in the IT industry and believes that there is a market for such a website. “Traditional classified advertising sites are usually unnecessarily complex, have limited functionality, and often have fees,” he said, “pricelookup.com aims to remove these barriers and offer a free and complete experience for people seeking to use a classified advert service.” Currently available in both English and Chinese versions, pricelookup.com aims to connect buyers and sellers directly wherever possible, and provides secure payment facilities and private messaging between users to encourage this.
Chiu is keen to emphasise that unlike many classified advertising sites, adverts are not limited to goods for sale. Jobs, services and real estate are also catered for, and all listings can be accessed either through the search facility or by browsing through categories for different item types. Over the coming months the site will be adding new features to further enhance the existing services. The site has been designed to allow rapid expansion, and pricelookup.com’s growth since release is proving the value of their investment in a high quality, flexible design.
Visitors to the site are able to place items for sale with no fees or registration process required and pricelookup.com is integrated with Paypal to provide a secure and instant payment facility when an item is sold.
pricelookup.com has been launched to offer the next generation of classified advertising services to internet users. Free and simple to use, it enable buyers to purchase goods directly from advert listings using secure payment facilities. In less than two months of operation, over $5 million of items have so far been listed, attracting over 10,000 visitors per month.
